There are a number of major metropolitan areas where the downtown streets are experiencing a revival and restoration to return them to their former glory and in a number of towns, such as Pittsburg,  Pennsylvania the local business owners have started to invest in making streets that were originally bustling in the nineteenth century into replicas of that era complete with chandelier lighting and tin ceiling tiles that make one think that the year is actually 1860 and not the twenty-first century. Renovations have become a popular way to drum up interest in old downtowns that need an infusion of visitors and tourist dollars.
