There is a silent language in baseball that used signs between a pitcher in baseball and the catcher at home plate and when deciding on the pitching velocity of a ball that was to be pitched to a batter, the picture needed to make a decision on how to throw the ball and this required communication with the catcher. The interesting thing about this type of decision, however, is that these days it is even more secretive and will be decided upon by using secret hand signals from the coach or manager instead of the catcher to the pitcher.

Although it's not allowed for a golfer to sink a ball into a hole while the flagstick sits in it, sometimes it can be rather bright outside on the course and it can be difficult to see just where the hole is. This means that having someone hold the flag stick in the hole right as a player goes to make a putt is preferable. A person can even hold extra golf clubs while tending the flagstick for a friend. The one thing to remember when tending the flagstick is that it's important not to stand in the way of the person putting.
